Casa LaLa is a detached 2 bedroom Villa substantially renovated in 2009. Situated in a quiet residential area at the highest part of the village Praia da Luz. Views of the local black rock mountain, the sea and roof tops can be seen from the upper balcony adjacent to the living room. The walls of the garden have been raised to increase privacy where guests can make use of the private pool. Sun beds, table chairs and a large parasol are also provided for your comfort and enjoyment. There is a traditional built in BBQ and tools for guest use. Charcoal not provided although there is usually some remaining from previous visitors.
Inside the accommodation:
The master double bedroom opens onto the pool side. There are substantial built-in cupboards and plenty of draw room. Fans are provided to help cool the air in the warmer times although the villa does stay generally cool.
The bathroom is immediately outside the Master room and a few feet from the twin room. Both rooms are decorated traditionally with a sprinkle of colour added to cheer things up.
A spiral stair way takes you to the upper floor where you'll find a newly fitted kitchen (2009) with fridge, cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and all the kitchen implements you'll need. There is a balcony leading off the kitchen and the living room.
The living room furnishing includes two leather bed sofa's , a dining table and chairs, a TV with built-in free view, DVD and iPod dock. A working open fire for the colder months may be lit. Various decorative touches cheer the room up without spoiling the Portuguese traditional look.
The surrounding area:
We chose the area for peace and quiet yet enjoy the walk into the village where thee are numerous bars and restaurants. We enjoy the walk but some may prefer to use a car as the hill is steep and not suitable for carrying shopping bags home. The car ride into the village and local supermarkets is a sub 5 minute drive.
Our favourite part of the property is the substantial and private pool area. With the BBQ in full swing we have shared many a night with friends to the early hours. Being a residential area it is very quiet and far enough away from the bars and promenade not to be disturbed at all.
We have had guests without a car but they suggested a car would be preferable as being at the highest part of the village does make the journey home from the supermarket with shopping a challenge. We are building a list of good restaurants to eat and dance and guests too are adding to this list which can be found in the living room. A taxi home from the centre of the village/nightlife is between 3-5 euro dependent on the driver, it's less than 5 min drive and a couple of kilometres.
Lagos is an old cobble street town and is 10-15 min drive. It's packed with shops and restaurants for every budget. Everything you expect in a town is there.
In the village there is a church, doctors and pharmacy. English is well spoken everywhere.
