The international access code for Portugal is +351. There are no area or city codes required. The outgoing code for an international call is 00 followed by the relevant country code, the area code (if applicable) and then the phone number. Portugal is covered by three GSM mobile phone networks. To make calls from public telephones (which you can find on the street, in some bars, restaurants, etc. and in shopping centres), you may use coins or phone cards, which can be purchased from tobacconists, news kiosks and telephone shops.
Mobile phone reception in Portugal is based on GSM technology and may not be compatible with a certain number of countries (including the USA, Canada and Japan), unless you have a three-band mobile phone. Before travelling to Portugal you should contact your telephone services provider to activate the international roaming service (..if it's not already activated automatically).
Making international calls from a mobile phone may be very expensive and it's advisable to purchase a phone card to call home from a public telephone.
There are numerous internet points offering internet access. Many hotels offer a direct or Wi-Fi internet connection in the rooms. Internet facilities are available in the village or at different Internet Cafés in Lagos.
