The beautiful and welcoming seaside village of Praia da Luz (or also known as "Luz") is located in the southern west coast of Algarve, the most southern region of Portugal. Situated about 6 km west of the historic city of Lagos, today, Praia da Luz is one of the most popular beach resorts in the country.

Until recently, a small fisherman's village, it specialized in Octopus potting and Tuna canning.
