Most shops open from 9am to 1pm and again from 3pm to 7pm and on Saturdays, from 9am to 1pm. The Portuguese still observe the siesta but during the high season period, in most tourist resorts, shops do stay open. It's worth taking a trip to the smaller towns for real bargains and a more relaxed shopping experience.
